Looking inviting, doesn’t it my friend. We wish you were here to enjoy the pergola with us. One of these days for sure.
As you know – and I am sure you are tired of me saying – the gardens that came with the house were a disaster. Having to begin somewhere, we chose one garden in the front and one garden in the rear to get the most of our attention and plants. This portion of the pergola garden is where we began in the back yard. Our intent is to develop a matrix of ground cover, structural plants and vignette plants.
The bones are there as you can see, but it has a long way to go. We are thinking heuchera and penstemon for the side behind the couch and more of am English cottage garden look for the side in the image. We want to get some irises and daffodils in so that we have some spring color. Each bed will be about 12’x4′, maybe 6.’
I’ll be sure to keep you posted as the gardens develop. It’s hot and humid today. Hopefully it will cool down enough this evening for me to mow the lawn. I will sure be glad when the lawn becomes mostly garden.
Hope you get to visit soon,
Frank
